Jacob and the Farm

So, about every two years, I take some time to do something fun with my family. This cycle, it was go to Domino's Petting Farm. It is right next to the worldwide corporate headquarters of Domino's Pizza, but claims that there is no affiliation. I will need to look into that. Anyways, it was a little cold, but it was very fun to see the animals and see how Jacob dealt with it. He, for the most part, liked them (as indicated by his laughter), or was indifferent. Here are some pictures we took. We saw some pigs. These are two small ones. We saw one, in its own pen, that was probably 1000 pounds, and huge. It was amazing. While we were observing the sow take her nap, some ducks flew in and ate out of the slop bowl. Good thing she slept through it; those ducks didn't stand a chance. We got to go on a hayride around the farm, which backs up to a highway. It was interesting to hear the sounds of urban America while smelling the scents of rural America and seeing rare cattle breeds like the African Watusi and the Banded Galloway. Jacob wished he could have ridden on one of the miniature ponies.

This goat, we'll call him Charlie, was kicked in the face by a fidgety Jacob. Luckily Jacob was feeling repentant later and fed Charlie a carrot and then pet his nose.

And here we are visiting with Quito the llama, shown below. We found out that he didn't understand Spanish very well, despite his name. He made his home with many crazy goats who got so excited any time a kid came near with a carrot slice that you would have thought it was Goat Christmas.
